El Hotel Claridge, edificio brutalista diseñado por Roberto Puig Álvarez fue inaugurado en 1969. A medio camino entre Madrid y Valencia, estaba situado junto al embalse de Alarcón (Cuenca), en el km 184,6 de la antigua carretera N-III que unía ambas capitales. Mientras estuvo en funcionamiento, los autobuses de líneas regulares que transitaban por la antigua carretera tenían estipulada una parada en el establecimiento, que permanecía abierto 24 horas, 365 días del año, ya que el hotel pertenecía a la empresa Auto-Res que poseía el monopolio de esa ruta. Miles de personas visitaban diariamente este establecimiento. Como consecuencia de la puesta en servicio de la autovía entre Madrid y Valencia, a finales de 1998, de la noche a la mañana se vació de visitantes. El hotel cerró el mismo día en que se inauguró este tramo de la A-3 que acortaba la duración del trayecto en un par de horas. Desde esa fecha, el hotel permanece abandonado y está a la venta.

Hotel Claridge, a fine example of brutalist architecture designed by Roberto Puig Álvarez was completed in 1969, on the old N-III route halfway between Madrid and Valencia. Located next to the Alarcón reservoir (Cuenca) this monumental building was built to accommodate commuters between the two cities. As a result of the construction of the A-3 motorway towards the end of 1998, and the shortening of the journey time between Valencia and Madrid by a couple of hours, the Hotel Claridge literally emptied of visitors overnight. While the Hotel Claridge was in operation, the buses of regular lines that traveled the N-III had a designated stop at the Hotel, which remained open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, since the hotel belonged to the Auto-Res company that owned the monopoly of that route. Thousands of people visited this establishment daily. The hotel closed the same day that the section of the A-3 motorway that ran through that area was inaugurated. Since that date, the hotel remains abandoned and for sale.
